MY FAVOURITE LOOKS FROM THE HEINEKEN LAGOS FASHION AND DESIGN WEEK

Tuesday, November 08, 2016

The Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week (LFDW) is a multiday fashion event platform that aims to drive the Nigerian and ultimately, the African fashion industry; by bringing together buyers, consumers and the media to view the current collections of African designers in the fashion capital of Lagos, Nigeria.

As a leading fashion event on the African fashion calendar, LFDW leads the way with initiatives that supports, strengthens and develops the fashion industry. Beyond the runway, the annual event provides a physical platform that’s gradually repositioning fashion as a useful tool for commerce and creativity in Nigeria. This year it held at the Federal Palace Hotel,VI, Lagos and of cause fashion lovers from all over Nigeria where in attendance, a blast of phototgrahers, designers, models and bloggers... cause I mean what's a fashion event like LFDW without bloggers lol.

But most importantly for me were their outfits, this year we saw by far the most creative, insightful, daring and of cause outrageous looks ever since it began in 2011, Fashion bloggers and lovers literally took over and were the main attraction ,their out of this world looks had tongues wagging all over social media especially if you are on instagram and just incase you somehow missed out on all the action? You can check the hashtag LFDW2016 on instagram get ready to be blown away lol... I most definitely came across some looks that instantly blew me away so I am going to be sharing them with you and I hope you guys enjoy them.

Unfortunately there are too much looks to go over with y'all sadly so it would just be my favourite looks.

BEFORE I BEGIN I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ADD THAT THERE WERE A WHOLE LOT OF AMAZING LOOKS AT FASHION WEEK BUT EVEN MORE HORRIBLE ONES AND THEN YOU HEAR THOSE PEOPLE WHO CAME LOOKING LIKE CLOWNS SAY STUFF LIKE FASHION HAS NO RULES, WHILE I MAY AGREE THAT FASHION HAS NO RULES WHAT FASHION DOES HAVE AND ALWAYS HAS TO HAVE IS BEAUTY AND PEOPLE SHOULDN'T FOCUS TOO MUCH ON BEING CREATIVE WITH LOOKS AND FORGETTING THE BEAUTY ASPECT OF IT ALL BECAUSE NO MATTER HOW CREATIVE A LOOK OR DESIGN IS WITHOUT IT BEING BEAUTIFUL WHEN IT ALL COMES TOGETHER IT'S A DAMN WASTE OF TIME,EFFORT AND MONEY...                                                LADIES

Fashion designer and ceo of vonne couture, Yvonne Nwosu, stepped out for the fashion week Day 1 in a very popular African traditional style  "iro and buba", the style was in a colorful orange and blue floral print fabric, she styled this look with a cute pair of orange sneakers, I love this look, the color mixture and the idea of mixing a traditional look with sneakers, it gives the look that extra feel of edgyness or else it would have been a basic iro and buba look with a slit lol and oh I also loved her hair.. I mean my my look at it and of cause she designed what she's wearing VONNE COUTURE

Day two the beauty came in a white long sleeve shirt that she tucked into a white see through skirt, she came looking fashion week ready in this number, I loved the element of surprise with the the skirt. She paired her look with clear glasses frames, white sneakers and a black purse.

Yvonne definitely slayed on day 3 of fashion week in this metallic number. The interesting part about this outfit is that it ultimately wasn't too much even with the bold monotone hue, this look was simply chic and gorgeous and she looked every bit a star, she styled this look with gold hoop earrings, gold shoes and a black chanel bag with gold detailing which are all available at VONNE COUTURE

Finally on day 4 she came to slay with a blue jean jacket, a red rose bud inspired crop top paired with a black skirt that featured rose detailings aswell as a side pocket and black socks with purple shoes , she killed it and I could literally imagine people stopping to stare at her because who wouldn't look at this twice? Lol and I am crowning her as THE BEST DRESSED LADY at fashion week 2016. Outfit from VONNE COUTURE

Next is Fashion and style blogger Deola Adebiyi in military inspired design, her sleeveless coat, mesh top and skirt except for her shoes are from menswear/womenswear brand STVNWAYNE. She was serving guerrilla fashion in a very chic and stylish way, her look gave me instant life when I saw it and she definitely did the camo look justice with her wedge boots and dark shades.

Day 2, she came in this floral PJ set by DESIRE1709FASHION paired with a yellow crop top and stunned, she looked whimsical yet very fashion forward and definitely turned heads in this number

And finally on day 4 she came in this gorgeous fringe jumpsuit by Crotchet Designer EDDIE OKOLO paired with white bamboo heels, pink purse and her blue shades, she oozes of fashion... smell that?? Lol for more on this beauty CLICK HERE

Next is Maryam Daisy Salam C.E.O and founder of the THE BLOGGER POINT  which I am a proud member of lol she was serving some major fashion goals in this gorgeous outfit by BELOIS COUTURE, she styled the look with black strap heels and some gorgeous shades by DAPMOD and let's not forget that bag ,I mean wow! she was a breathe of fresh fashion air. GENTS

Next.. Killing the street style trend is model Olalekan Babalola , day 3 wearing a white shirt by ST.MORGAN, a denim jacket over his shoulders paired with black sweat pants, sneakers, a gold turban and dark shades... he most definitely came to slay, I love every bit of this look. For more on him click HERE

Next we have Jordan Abiola wearing a gold coloured two piece suit by EMMYKASBIT, he paired his look with a gold long sleeve shirt, gold wrist watch ,dark shades and a pair of multi-colored sneakers from FUNKCLOTHINGS while I am not certain that I completely like the sneakers with his look especially because of the off color mixture? It still doesn't take away the fact that he won golden trophies in this look lol

And day 4, I just couldn't get enough of Jordan in this really long, black see through basketball inspired jersey by MAXVIVE which he paired with red sweat pants and sneakers by KEEXS, he looked soo urban chic, I love this look from head to toe. For more on Jordan Click HERE

Then there was blogger Femi Oluwayemi guy, he was so dapper and trendy in this traditional print look ,he mixed Ankara and Adire together and it worked perfectly and he paired his look with a navy blue blazer from Mark & Spencer  .

which he wore over his shoulders, lol if you know me you'll know that I am obsessed with wearing stuff over my shoulders. I love his burgundy tassel loafers with fringe details from COLWYN APPARELL and golden shades and the fitting of his outfit on his body was simply perfection... my!...my! this was a win for me, very simple look yet so stylish.. I love it. For more amazment from Femi click HERE

And then came the King... i'm talking about Denola Grey of cause, he joined the LFDW 2016 fash pack on the day 2 and boy did he bring it!.. He wore a brown wool two piece suit by JZO, he paired his suit with a shirt he describes as his dad's mandela shirt pinned into a tunic and brown shoes by JESU-SEGUN LONDON and dark sunglasses by DAPMOD,I loved his neck pieces, the un-buttoned sleeves of the shirt basically I loved this look deeply and he looked like royalty

And then in Day 3, he came in this amazeballs tuxedo jacket by FRATRESCLOTHING that was belted on his waist, he paired his tux with white pants, white shirt, a printed scarf around his neck , shades and black shoes. He's been rocking these belted at the waist blazer looks for a while now and he sure knows how to work them, he is one who obviously knows what works for his body and so everything fit him like a glove.. he looked picture perfect.

And for Denola's last look to the day 4 of fashion week he came to slay head to toe in an ORANGECULTURE number well except for his shoes lol
Urgh!! The blast of purple everywhere, those short pants, his neck pieces and again with the un-buttoned shirt sleeves, I loved this so much ,it almost beat his first outfit hands down but I still love that one more lol even though he's shoes were blue, they actually worked really well with the purple hue of his ensemble... this is what you wear to shut down fashion week... I love, love his fashion week style and I am crowning him asTHE BEST DRESSED guy at fashion week 2016. For more on this style star click HERE
And lastly I have to talk about this amazing and innovative guy model/stylist Hamid Vijay who came in with a BANG! I am awarding him with the FASHION REBEL AWARD of Fashion Week because he took huge fashion risks and pushed the boundaries and he definitely will soon become a trend setter in the Nigerian fashion industry if he keeps going at it this way and works hard to improve on his looks, while he may have not completely nailed all his looks to perfection, he sure wore them well. I am certainly of the opinion that a few tweaks here and there would have made it all perfect because he tends to in-corporate a few things into his outfits that ultimately doesn't quite work out well but I am applauding him for his daring and unique style.
Day 1 he came in a white mesh/netted top that he paired with pink pants, while some people may have an issue with the color,I actually do not mind this because obviously he has an androgynous style, so it is well within his style jurisdictions lol. What I do mind are his sandals ,I ain't really feeling them ,maybe a pair of white sneakers or flat shoes would have worked better for me but I do like that his bag is black which kinda balanced the look.
Day 2 he wore another mesh/see through outfit , now I do like this look, love his hat and the stuff on his face but I feel as though wearing the see through both ways wasn't so great. His pants should have been solid material all through or the solid part should have been equally as long as the netted part and then what's with the huge scarf over his shoulders? lol and then he added the bag and those shoes... there was no balance with this outfit everything was full on dramatic and a little too outrageous but then if he didn't do that I wouldn't be talking about him ,would I? Lol

And then there was day 3 ..Oh Lord!! He wore this white kimono that featured a kente material attached to it at the waist line ,he paired this look with green sneakers and a confusing red santa clause ish kinda bag lol.. I mean c'mon.. this could have been perfect... This is when he should have worn the white sandals first of all then loosed that outrageous bag lol and this would have really been a moment
I honestly love the whole creative aspects of his looks but he sure goes a little too extra and tends to ruin the beauty but still the fact cannot be denied that he knows fashion and is a style star in his own way.

WELL THAT IS ALL THE LOOKS FROM THE HEINEKEN LAGOS FASHION AND DESIGN WEEK THAT I HAVE TO SHARE WITH YOU GUYS... I HOPE YOU ENJOYED HEARING FROM ME AND IF YOU GOT ANYTHING TO ADD TO THIS BE SURE TO DROP A COMMENT ... CHAO GUYS..
